Product Review: Escalade Sports Jack-and-June Jungle Climber

Hello again and happy fall, ya’ll! October is finally here and i’m not sure what i’m more thrilled for- all of the spooky decorations and Halloween shenanigans or the fact that 2020 is almost over.

Even though this year has been quite a messy one, thankfully something positive came out of it for my toddler- an amazing new swing set from Escalade Sports! I had been searching for a swing set for MONTHS before I stumbled across the Escalade Sports Instagram page and promptly sent them a message seeing if we could find a way to collaborate!

Thankfully, they were interested in gifting me a Jack-and-June Jungle Climber in exchange for my honest review and I couldn’t be happier about their decision to do so because honestly, this thing ROCKS. Let’s get right into it, shall we?

Okay guys, first and foremost, here’s how your jungle Climber will arrive when you order one…Yep, that’s a semi-truck parked in front of my house!

If you have a toddler who loves trucks, watching the delivery and unloading will be just as exciting as the constructed swing set. I promise.

Once the order was placed with Escalade Sports, shipping and delivery was honestly a breeze. It only took about a week from order to delivery! I simply called the freight company using the tracking information Escalade Sports provided me with and arranged a day that the climber would be delivered. ABF Freight was wonderful and very attentive to maintaining communication throughout the entire delivery process. They even made sure to call me a few times the day of delivery to keep me updated and ready for their arrival.

Of course my toddler had to watch Daddy and the truck driver unload her swing set. I’m honestly not sure what she enjoyed more- knowing her swing set was finally here or the awesomeness of having a large semi-truck parked in front of her house!

Seeing a semi-truck pull up to drop off the swing set definitely made us nervous that there would be multiple, large, heavy boxes filling our garage. Thankfully, we were incredibly surprised to see that the entire Jack-and-June Jungle Climber only required 4 total boxes and the overall weight wasn’t really that bad! My husband and our incredibly kind neighbor carried them all to the backyard in just a few minutes without even breaking a sweat (and with the help of our kiddos who HAD to be involved in the process, of course!).

Okay, now onto the assembly!

I’m going to preface this with fact that our neighbors are not only incredibly intelligent (they’re both engineers), they are also incredibly selfless and sweet! Thankfully, they were more than willing to help us assemble the Jungle Climber which honestly made the entire process a BREEZE!

Of course it wouldn’t be a fun morning of swing set assembly without three little ones running around “helping” us assemble it, would it? I mean, of course you need a ton of bubbles, balls being thrown, and happily screaming toddlers to successfully build a jungle climber!

TA-DA! After about 2 hours, we have a completely assembled Jack-and-June Jungle Climber! Honestly, I expected it to take MUCH longer to assemble, but I believe we can thank our engineer neighbors for the incredible assistance in making this process silky smooth and a relatively quick one!

Now that it’s assembled, let’s take a closer look at the details, shall we?

First of all, the Jack-and-June Jungle Climber is made from cedar wood, so it’s very light, yet durable. This is a product detail that was INCREDIBLY important to me when picking out a swing set since we live on the East Coast of Florida and are prone to hurricanes, a ton of rain in the summer and A LOT of hot, humid days throughout the year. I also found the color of the cedar wood to be beautiful and look really great against the green and yellow details of the set.

The Jack-and-June Jungle Climber comes with the following swing accessories: one yellow belt swing, one green belt swing and a trapeze. I chose to also add on an “accessory” rope and disc (pictured further down in the blog) because, why not?! Now let’s get into the details of those accessories…

  1. Belt swings: The swing chains are 80 inches in length; the bottom 25 inches are coated in green plastisol for a soft, comfortable grip. The swing seat measures 26 inches in length and is 5.5 inches wide. It attaches to most swing beams up to 9’ tall. Both belt swing chains are made from steel and coated in zinc for rust resistance and are designed for children but strong enough for adults with a weight limit of 630 lbs. (When properly installed to a correspondingly strong beam.)

  2. Trapeze: The trapeze bar is powder-coated and 21” in length and is attached by 50” long swing chain with plastisol coating on the bottom 18” for a soft and comfortable grip. The bar is also UV resistant and passed a 500-hour UV resistance test!

  3. Rope and Disc: The seat is made from highly durable polyethylene plastic and connected to a braided polyester rope which is soft to the touch with a 200 pound weight capacity. it is made for children but durable enough for adults with a weight capacity of 200 lbs.

As you’ll see in the photo below, the Jungle Climber only allows three swing accessories to be used at once. Honestly, it’s super easy to just switch out the accessories as you wish. When we want to use the rope and disc, we just remove one of the belt swings in a matter of seconds and store it in our garage, which is incredibly easy and not a bother to do!

Seriously, how beautiful is that cedar wood?!

I also LOVE that Escalade Sports offers a pretty wide variety of Jungle Climber swinging accessories on their website from hammock swings (which I REALLY want to get my hands on), tire swings, toddler swings, round swings, and even plastic gliders! Another great detail is that majority of the swing accessories either arrive fully assembled, or take just a few minutes to assemble! How great is that?

This little one couldn’t be more thrilled for her new Jack-and-June Jungle Climber! Can you tell?

Now let’s discuss the other important part of the Jungle Climber- the climbing portion!

Scroll to see my 2.5 year old daughter climb her way to the top of her brand new Jungle Climber all by herself (with our supervision, of course)!

She is so happy and so proud of herself!

While the Jungle Climber is made of durable cedar wood and has sturdy, easy-to-climb steps, I opted to add on their accessory 10” green safety handles (shown in the image below) to each side of the steps. Personally, even though my little one is capable of climbing to the top by herself (with supervision), I enjoy the peace-of-mind having added on the 10” green safety handles for an additional safety component.

If you scroll up, you’ll notice the safety handles aren’t shown on the front-side of the Jungle Climber in any of the images, as only one set was mistakenly included in my order. No worries though! The moment I notified Escalade Sports of the mistake, two 10” green safety handles were promptly ordered and shipped to my home!

Escalade Sports offers safety handles in various colors and sizes on their website if you prefer the added safety component like I do!

I also love that the cover of the Jungle Climber is made of a durable nylon material that snaps onto the frame for easy application and removal (if necessary). It decided to start raining (as seen in the image below) during our assembly and the nylon Jungle Climber cover immediately proved how durable and well-made it was!

Let’s wrap it all up, shall we?

The Jack-and-June Jungle Climber has a price tag of $999, which is pretty average for what you would expect to pay for a swing set. I’ve found some cheaper ones online for around $500 and larger, more expensive ones in the THOUSANDS. So a price tag of $999 for a beautiful, simple set, made from durable cedar wood is not too bad in my opinion.

I would honestly recommend this Jungle Climber if you’re searching for a great swing set for your little one that will LAST for years to come. This swing set is not only durable, but also incredibly versatile- which I LOVE. I adore the fact that if I wanted to mix it up, I can choose from a variety of accessory swing options from the Escalade Sports website. That alone is guaranteed to keep this Jungle Climber entertaining for not only my little one for years to come, but also myself (hello future hammock swing)! With so many great accessory options and a very easy order, delivery and assembly process, you can’t go wrong with a Jack-and-June Jungle Climber from Escalade Sports!
